Microwave Technologies for 5G – IEEE MTT-SCV Short Course

Everyone is talking about 5G these days. From cell phone manufacturer’s to service providers to just about anyone interested in providing wireless or internet services. This latest generation will use increased bandwidth to provide advantages like higher data rates and lower network latency thereby improving network capacity and increasing interaction speeds. Unlike previous generations, 5G will not only serve just cellphones but also general home and office networking systems, competing with wired internet providers. Additionally, the technology will find it’s way into such applications as autonomous vehicles, IoT, satellite systems, factory automation, and test equipment to name a few.

This short course will give an overview of some key areas like wireless applications and networks being deployed and the technologies needed to enable them. Topics will also discuss design techniques, packaging technologies, power amplifiers, and measurement systems needed to meet the future challenges.
